Over the Easter holidays we decided it would be a good time to get little man into his new toddler bed. I don’t think there’s a right or wrong time it’s just what feels right for you and your little one, but when I just about caught him doing a full on somersault over the bars I thought this would definitely be a good time! When the bed arrived we let James Joseph help take his cot down with us and put the new toddler bed up, he loved it and couldn’t wait to climb onto his new bed.
My 3 Easy Steps would be;
1, Try and keep the new bed in the same place so everything looks familiar, as it won’t be as daunting when your little one wakes up as everything will look the same.
2, Toddler proof the room as your little one is free to explore now so making sure all furniture is securely fasten down, conceal cords, get rid of breakables, and make sure there’s no hard objects or furniture that your little one could fall on if they do fall out of there new toddler bed.
3, Keep to your usual bedtime routine , my little one is bath, book, bed with his bottle and two favourite teddy’s.
As you can see he loves his new bed his little face says it all! I would say just go with your gut feeling we had James Joseph in a sleeping bag and he kept getting tangled and got really frustrated with it plus he was always banging into the sides of the cot. We bought new bedding and a toddler bed duvet but I put it the opposite way round so I could tuck it right underneath the bed so little man couldn’t pull it off. We couldn’t believe how well he slept and he didn’t even move, unbelievable! best night sleep we all had in ages.
Hope this helps if your little one is ready for the big move, here’s to getting a goodnights sleep…Yay!
