What a fantastic weekend we’ve had just getting our wellies on and heading out to see where the day takes you! not rushing round getting ready for work, or cleaning the house! just out to enjoy one of the best autumnal weekends we’ve had so far! It was a beautiful day for getting muddy and running wild in the leaves at Towneley Park, if you like jumping in muddy puddles as much as we do! and kicking your way through thousands of fallen leaves, this is the perfect place to let your little ones run free and have a ball whilst taking in beautiful views and exploring the woodlands 🙂
As you can see James picked one of the muddiest puddles he could find and jumped happily away loving the muddy puddles splashing shouting, “mummy you do it!,” so there I was splashing right by his side having a great time not knowing there was a huge group of dog walkers right behind me heading in our direction! needless to say they said they couldn’t figure out who was having the most fun! I couldn’t stop laughing 🙂
There’s so much to see and do walking through the woods and especially at this time of the year with all the leaves falling and the colours of the trees, it’s just spectacular! It’s a great mini adventure being outdoors with your little ones to see what things you can find, we love kicking and scrunching through all the fallen leaves then picking them up and throwing them in the air, watching James face just makes me smile and it’s great fun! The Woodland Trust website gives you loads of ideas for fun things to do in the woods with your little ones so if you’re wanting to go on a mini beast adventure or make sensory boxes there are lots of great ideas to get you started! http://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/naturedetectives/ just click on the age appropriate for your little ones and away you go! I love this website it really gives you simple ideas, you can just download and keep. I remember doing them when I was a kid, now I can share them with my son, making magical memories together 🙂
It’s a great place to visit there’s a stream running through the woodlands at Towneley Park there are also exhibitions, sculpture trails, an award-winning permaculture project Offshoots, play areas, sports pitches, two golf courses, pitch and putt, ornamental gardens, café and a gift shop. So if you fancy a magical woodland walk enjoying autumn at its best I would definitely recommend a visit!
When you come out of the woods you see the beautiful Towneley Hall right in front of you. It’s such a stunning building. The price for admission is £5 for Adults for a 12 months pass to enter anytime and kids go free which I think is great value as there’s lots of activities going on throughout the year. We’re saving our visit to Towneley Hall for another day! Here’s a link to there website for further information, http://towneley.org.uk/visit/
Our day out wouldn’t be complete without a visit to see the ducks which are all right in front of Towneley Hall a great way to end our woodland walk! Hope you have a great week 🙂
