How are you feeling at the moment? Do you feel like you just want to lock the door and shut out the rest of the world?! climb under your duvet and not come out till Spring arrives!ย  Well I know that feeling all to well and although I’m no expert, but these are a few simple ideas I’d like to share with you on how to keep positive throughout January 2018,putting a smile on your face and hopefully keep you going till Spring is shining upon us! ๐Ÿ™‚

1, Embrace The Weather.

I know how I feel when it’s pouring down outside and the fire is roaring and I’m all cosied up on the sofa. The last thing I want to do is face the elements, but I know as the day goes on I will just feel so lethargic that I have to get off my backside, pick myself up and get out! We can’t always wait until it’s sunny outside to go for a lovely walk or play outdoors. Living “up north” most days in January are quite bleak, so the best thing I can recommend is to invest in a good quality coat. I bought this one fromย Next which is showerproof and has a lovely navy blue fleece lining which keeps James all snuggly whilst we’re out and about, I love the colour and design, there’s plenty of pockets to carry all the little gems James picks up along the way! Then we get our wellies on and have some fun! ๐Ÿ™‚

2, Do Something That Gives you Joy!

When your sat at home sometimes it’s hard to come up with things that don’t cost the earth! but I find if you stick to the most simplest of things these give me the most joy! We love the outdoors so sometimes for me just playing outdoors with James, making a den, looking for bugs, playing golf, well trying to play! are the best days ever ๐Ÿ™‚ something always happens and I love just being silly with my son there’s nothing that makes me smile more! You could read a new book, bake, cook something you’ve never tried before! catch up with friends, play your favourite music and just dance, whatever gives you joy in your life try and fit as much in as you can ๐Ÿ™‚

3, Challenge Yourself

I think we all can get stuck in a rut!, and if you’re anything like me with a 2 year old, I need routine in my life or I don’t do half as much as I could. So I stick to a well planned day to fit in as much as I can, in my working week. Which is all well and good, but I do love a challenge! and I love pushing my boundaries. So whether you take on a new sport, get involved in your local community, start a new hobby, enrol in a course, join a gym, go for a brisk walk, climb a mountain or a small hill. or learn how to start a blog! ๐Ÿ˜‰ which believe me is my biggest challenge up to press!, there’s so much to learn which really excites me, I am easily pleased though!;) When you challenge yourself and achieve something new however big or small, It just makes you feel like you want to do more, and it really motivates me, so take on a new challenge today and let me know how you get on.

4, Give Yourself A Boost

I’m always so keen at the start of January to start a new exercise routine and eat more healthy, which does make me feel good, I have to say. But sometimes I’m too busy to eat as good as I should so I grab things on the go which are not always the best nutritiously. Being mindful of eating more fresh fruit and veggies and eating more protein is definitely on my to do list. As when your body feels good I think you feel good too!

5, Do Something Constructive

I love this! as I never keep still and I’m always on the go, but putting my mind to do a specific task, well that can be a little harder. For me I’ve started to declutter my home and I feel like a weight has been lifted, honestly last week when I’d put James to bed. I set a task to clear out all my wardrobe space and 3hours later with 6 bin bags full of clothes to take to the charity shop. I just felt on top of the world! silly isn’t it that decluttering can make you feel this way. That was it! I made it my mission to tackle something every night. I’ve now finished my bedroom, wardrobes, drawers, under my bed. James room, and the bathroom. There’s no stopping me now! I think by not saying that you’re going to do it all at once…. like how could you! just give yourself little constructive tasks and you’ll soon whizz through it. I’m starting my kitchen tonight, wish me luck!

6, Saying Thank-You

This small act that we do most days will boost your positively. I thank everyone all the time from my postman to my clients for their business and it always makes me feel better instantly. It’s always the small things isn’t it!

7, Text A Friend

Texting a friend and letting them know you’re there for them will make you feel as good as it will them! ๐Ÿ™‚

8, Stop Comparing Yourself

I think I can be guilty of this sometimes especially looking at things on social media, but it’s the worst, and to be fair people only tend to show the best parts and no body is perfect by no means. So by looking at what you’ve achieved is a lot more productive. When I look at my son there’s nothing that can compare to that! I’m sure you feel the same with your family, friends, pets! ๐Ÿ™‚

9, Smile

Try and smile more I have read somewhere that smiling even after doing a really stressful activity can lower your heartrate a lot quicker than people who don’t so keep smiling my lovelies! It keeps you healthy ๐Ÿ™‚

10, Make Plans

Another one of my favourites! Having something to look forward to, even meeting up for lunch with a friend, makes you feel happier. Book a holiday or mini break, plan a day out somewhere you’ve never been before. A spa day with your family or friends, making plans, the anticipation, just makes you feel happier!

So there you have it! I’m no expert, but these small steps help keep me feeling more positive throughout January. Here’s to embracing whatever the British weather throws at us and just getting outside and having some fun!     Totally agree with this Mandy I love making plans and it makes me feel so much better to know I have exciting things ahead. You are right about embracing the weather its the only way to cope with all the rain. xxx
