Waddington Duck Race And Enjoying Lots Of Ice-Cream.

waddington duck race and lots of ice-cream

I don’t know about you but I’ve never been to a Duck Race before so when I saw the Waddington Duck Race advertised I thought lets go and see what it’s all about ūüôā I’m so glad we did as it was an absolute brilliant¬†day out with live music, Maypole dancing,¬†great food, lots of little stalls with fun crafty¬†things¬†to take part in¬†as well as buying a few homemade cakes, which who can resist eh! The whole¬†village was on board with making this day one to remember!

Luckily the weather was on our side making it easier for most people to walk into the village and they closed the main road off which was great so little man could run round and enjoy all the entertainment. As soon as we entered the village there were loads of people supporting the whole event a fantastic  atmosphere and there was a fire engine in the middle of the road as we approached the village hall, which James loves, so he went running up for a closer look. The fireman was so helpful and let James go inside and sit on the chair as he looked at all the apparatus  he looked round in amazement  whilst he was sitting there and never said a word bless him.

James spotted this old tractor and wouldn’t walk passed until he could have a ride on it, luckily it was there courtesy of the Clitheroe young farmers¬†club, they were all so friendly and helpful plus we had a chance to win a brand new tractor toy, way hey! ūüėČ

Couldn’t resist the BBQ situated outside the Waddington Arms, the food is always amazing! Two huge homemade cheeseburgers with onions and tomato sauce just hit the spot ūüėČ then ice-creams all round, perfect! We bought our tickets and were ready for the big Waddington Duck Race!

With a fun running commentary from the local radio station Ribble ¬†FM , which made me laugh as it was like watching a scene from Peter Kays Phoenix Nights with Chorely FM “coming in your ears” sorry I couldn’t resist that! ūüėČ they were really good then the¬†ducks were released and we were all¬†cheering¬†to see if our ducks won, so funny and James loved it even though I had to pull him back a few times ¬†from ¬†him¬†trying to jump in. All great fun but unfortunately we didn’t win. First prize was ¬£100¬† so it was definitely worth a go!

A really lovely family day out¬†and I’ll definitely be putting it in my dairy for next year:) Even though the Waddington Duck Race is over for another year it’s still a lovely village to go and visit, look at all the scarecrows in people gardens and eat great food at any of the local pubs, beautiful walks and lots of real ducks that just make you smile on summer days like today ūüôā If you’re looking for another lovely walk through the countryside¬†check this out! If you know of any other local family fun days out, I’d love to hear about them ūüôā

What a lovely little village. It reminds me of fall in New England. I enjoy taking little day trips. They provide a lot of entertainment and fun. #explorerkids

That does look like a lot of fun! We have a local town that does a duck race. A HUGE loader drops all the rubber ducks off at one end of the river and i think the first duck to make it either to or through the falls wins. We’ve never been but I do hope to get there one day. #ExplorerKids

Those ducklings are too cute. We have a duck race along the River Mole which isn’t too far away but we have never been. I’ve always thought it looked fun. Sarah #ExplorerKids

I’ve never been to a duck race before. I’ve been meaning to go for years. This place look awesome. It’s good to see that there were no actual ducks being harm through the process. ūüôā
